IBM 2671 paper tape reader

Back in the early 60s the IBM 360 had just been announced. Along with it was a peripheral called the IBM 2671. It was used for reading in paper tapes of various sizes at 1000 CPS. It was, however, a read only machine. I am yet to find a machine that has any paper tape punching capability.

The 2671 cabinet is actually 2 machines in one. The top half is the 2671 reader. The bottom being the 2822 paper tape reader control. (essentially the channel controller) I have no idea why IBM decided that the unit needed 2 machines. I am yet to find anywhere that states that it could be sold as a 2671 direct attach.
